Gumroad sales tracking on iOS
Updated 2026-08-04
Gumroad is where a lot of indie revenue actually happens — templates, ebooks, courses, one-off tools. It is also the platform most likely to distort your metrics if you treat it carelessly.
Why Gumroad is cash, not MRR
Monthly recurring revenue means revenue you can reasonably expect to receive again next month without doing anything. A one-off Gumroad sale is not that. You sold a thing once; nothing renews.
If you fold a $2,000 launch day into MRR, your dashboard says you're at $2,000 MRR and your forecast is fiction. Next month you're "down 90%" without anything having gone wrong.
So FRGMNT excludes Gumroad from True MRR entirely and reports it in today's cash, where a spike is exactly what it looks like: a good day.
This is a deliberate design decision, and it is the correct one. Any tool that quietly adds one-off sales to your MRR is flattering you. More on the general principle in does one-off revenue count towards MRR?.
What FRGMNT reads from Gumroad
- Today's sales — what came in today, feeding today's cash and the ledger.
- Key validation — confirms Gumroad accepts your token before you rely on it.
Gumroad memberships are recurring in principle, but FRGMNT does not currently compute MRR from them. If most of your Gumroad revenue is membership-based, know that it won't appear in your MRR figure today.
The credential you need
A Gumroad access token, generated from Settings → Advanced → Applications. Walkthrough: how to get a Gumroad access token.
Stored in the device Keychain, used to call Gumroad directly, never sent to a FRGMNT server.
Known limitations
- No MRR computed from memberships.
- Fees are not subtracted — Gumroad's cut is real and today's cash from Gumroad is closer to gross than net.
- Amounts assumed USD; multi-currency is summed without conversion.
The combination that actually matters
Gumroad on its own is well served by Gumroad's own dashboard. The reason to use FRGMNT is that you sell somewhere else too — and want the recurring and one-off sides of your business in one view without confusing them for each other.

Frequently asked
Does Gumroad revenue count as MRR?
Generally no. Most Gumroad sales are one-off purchases of a product, and one-off revenue is not recurring by definition. FRGMNT deliberately excludes Gumroad from True MRR and reports it in today's cash instead.
What if I sell a Gumroad membership?
Gumroad does support recurring memberships, but FRGMNT does not currently compute MRR from them. Gumroad contributes to today's cash only.
What credential does Gumroad need?
An access token generated from your Gumroad advanced settings. It is stored in your device Keychain and used to call Gumroad's API directly.
