Stripe and Lemon Squeezy combined MRR
Updated 2026-08-04
This is the one multi-platform combination where both sides genuinely produce recurring revenue — which makes it the cleanest case for a single combined MRR figure, and the one FRGMNT handles most completely after Stripe alone.
Why founders run both
Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record. It becomes the legal seller, which means it handles VAT, sales tax and the compliance paperwork that comes with selling software into dozens of jurisdictions. That is worth a lot when you are one person and do not want to register for VAT in the EU.
Stripe is a payment processor. Cheaper, more flexible, more control — and tax compliance is entirely your problem.
Running both is a rational hedge: Lemon Squeezy where tax complexity is painful, Stripe where it isn't.
How FRGMNT combines them
Both platforms contribute to True MRR:
- Fetch active subscriptions from each.
- Resolve each subscription to its price and billing interval.
- Normalise to monthly — annual divides by twelve, weekly multiplies by ~4.33.
- Sum into one figure.
An annual $490 Lemon Squeezy plan and a monthly $40 Stripe plan both land as roughly $40 of MRR, which is correct — they are worth about the same per month.
The one thing that isn't comparable
Fees. Stripe's are read exactly from balance transactions and subtracted from today's cash. Lemon Squeezy's are currently approximated as zero.
Since Lemon Squeezy's cut is meaningfully larger than Stripe's — that's the price of merchant-of-record service — this means the Lemon Squeezy share of your today's-cash figure reads high.
Practically:
- True MRR across both: trustworthy. Fees don't affect it either way, since MRR is a gross recurring figure by convention. See gross vs net MRR.
- Today's cash: Stripe portion exact, Lemon Squeezy portion closer to gross.
Currency
Both integrations assume USD and sum multi-currency amounts without conversion. If you bill in euros through Lemon Squeezy and dollars through Stripe, treat the combined figure as indicative.
What this looks like day to day
One number that actually represents the whole subscription business, rather than two dashboards you mentally average. That's the entire value — and with this particular pairing, it works today rather than being partly pending like Stripe + App Store.
Frequently asked
Do Stripe and Lemon Squeezy both count towards MRR?
Yes. Unlike Gumroad, both platforms produce genuine recurring subscriptions, so FRGMNT normalises active subscriptions from each to a monthly figure and sums them into one True MRR number.
Why would I use both instead of just one?
Lemon Squeezy is a merchant of record and handles VAT and sales tax for you, at a higher fee. Stripe is cheaper but leaves tax compliance to you. Plenty of founders use Lemon Squeezy for regions with painful tax rules and Stripe elsewhere.
Are the fee figures comparable between the two?
Not currently. Stripe fees are read exactly from balance transactions; Lemon Squeezy fees are approximated as zero in the app. MRR is comparable; today's-cash net figures are not.
